This past month has definitely been a photography month, even though my full frame camera was in the repair shop for the last four weeks. So thankful to have it back all fixed and looking like brand new. So thankful also for having two back up cameras.
There is something about purple flowers that I absolutely love. I am not one to paint a room purple or decorate with purple, but I do love purple flowers. Another purple thing I really like is my purple teacup that I bought two years ago from a local thrift store for a dollar. It is a prop I can't see to let go of and I often use it in my photos.
Below are just a few of the photos I took this past month... all purplelicious, of course!
Lovely lavender from Floretta Flower Studio & Crafts 💜
Beautiful lilacs from a lovely lady from our church. Also loving my new jug!
I bought a two foot square diffusion box and love it. It gives such a soft even light and is another option for taking my still life photos. The photos below were taken in the diffusion box. I've also been working more with textures and adding some watercolour brushes to some of my photos.
Beautiful purple lisianthus and roses from Floretta Flower Studio & Crafts. The last photo was done for Kim Klassen's "Gather" prompt. I will be hanging my sweet little green bird cage out on our patio for the summer!
I am so thankful that I am able to take still life photos just about everyday. These past two weeks I have been working on my backlighting and I am enjoying it more and more. I also love using sidelight.... and then I remember when I first tried flatlay photos, I struggled with them and now I love doing flatlay photos. Let's just say still life photography has become so much a part of my daily life and I feel very blessed to have my husband Jim who supports me immensely in all I do and for all the beautiful friendships I have made in the still life courses that I have been taking over the past couple of years.
I bought this gorgeous rose last week from Floretta Flower Studio & Crafts and it's just lasting and lasting. The sweet little cup is from HomeSense... I saw it and couldn't resist!
Last week Jim entertained for a church that was putting on a dinner for some Syrian families. They gave him a beautiful bouquet of flowers and unfortunately I didn't get a chance to photograph them, but here are some tulips that were in the bouquet
This was another flower from the bouquet and it is called a "pin cushion protea".
Who doesn't love ranunculus. I thought they went so well with my teapot. On the second photo I used my own texture that I created.
And last but not least... I was honoured and thrilled last week to have my photo below featured on #bellagracemagazine on Instagram.
