As we grow older time seems to fly by more quickly, especially in our society where everyone lives such busy lives. Here we are in 2016 and we begin the year with new goals, new resolutions and for some a new "word" for the year. I think in 2015 I had a "word", but who knows what it was because I sure can't remember. So much for a word to work on throughout last year. Well this year I have chosen the word "focus". Jim says I should choose the word "remember", not that his memory is any better than mine. I think that the word "focus" when applied to my daily life, can be a BIG word and I am not talking about focussing with my camera. That's a different story!
Staying focussed on whatever I am doing isn't always easy. There are so many distractions that can take place when being with another person, whether it be family, friends or people who you just meet. Our cell phones can be a great distraction.... it's right there with us.... texts, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Steller Stories, websites, etc. ... they can all take us away from the people we are supposed to "be" spending time with. Sometimes I will be working and have to look something up on the internet and find myself checking out Facebook and/or Instagram and before you know it an hour or two has gone by. Focus, focus, focus is what I am going to have to remind myself when I get caught up in social media and other distractions.
I could go on about other distractions, but I think you get the point of why my word for 2016 is "focus". For now I will say that I will be posting from time to time how I am sticking to my word. Do you have a word for 2016?
Onto photos.... Below are a couple of photos I took this past week for a course I am taking from Kim Klassen called "My Still Sunday". This week's lesson was on vignettes... I grouped together some of my favourite things.
Loving my new cup from Pier 1.
My mom gave me this little vase and girl way back in 1974. I still treasure them to this day!
A special friend gave me this iron!
The frame was made by the lovely people at Greenwood Creations Woodworking Shop in Maple Ridge, BC!
