My name is Donna Milburn and I would like to share with you a little bit about me. I was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec where I met my husband Jim who was, at the time, with the Canadian Forces. We have had the opportunity of living in Germany, Ontario, Alberta and in 1983 we decided to settle in beautiful British Columbia and call Pitt Meadows/Maple Ridge our home community. As a wife, mom, grandma, daughter and sister, family is very important to me. Jim and I have been married for over 45 years and enjoy sharing our talents and gifts with others. Throughout the years, we have been very committed to our community.
I have had an active interest in photography for many years starting with film photography back in the 80's and then moving onto digital in the late 90's. While doing a photo shoot for a national curling bonspiel hosted by the Maple Ridge Legion, I met a professional photo-journalist, Adam Day, who encouraged me to expand my skills and take my photography to new levels. He was very impressed with my steady hand and good eye for seeing subject composition, something which I am complimented on by many people. From his advice, I began taking courses from Vancouver Photo Workshops and Karen, owner of Amber Light Photo, as well as learning from other photographers, friends in the business and studying from books and on-line. Delia Cummings, owner of Essential Photography & Model Management Inc. has also been a true inspiration to me.
Whether photo shooting events, people, children in action, nature, night photography, panning, motorcycle racing, still life or other things of interest, I have a gifted passion for the art of photography. I love to take photos wherever I go, places like Barnston Island, Fort Langley, Stanley Park, Whistler, Granville Island, my local community, just to name a few.
I shoot in RAW format and do my best to capture the moments in camera, but also enhance my photography through the use of either Lightroom and/or Photoshop. Post processing is enjoyable for me as it gives me the opportunity to study my work.
Jim and I formed the Click & Clown Company in September 2009 combining our talents as photographer and children's entertainer. Both Click & Clown Company and Donna Milburn Photography are intertwined and are not only work for us, but also a wonderful source of enjoyment in our daily lives.
Jim is the best "sherpa" in town as he carries a lot of my equipment for me and assists me at most of my photo sessions. I often refer to him as my artistic director. Being an entertainer, he has a knack for getting people's attention and organizing them for photo sessions. He is also excellent at extracting smiles from kids and people of all ages.
