Do you believe?
Jim and I are very blessed to own an entertainment company where we entertain children of all ages all throughout the year. About four weeks before Christmas we magically become Santa & Mrs. Claus. Not only do we play the part... we become the part. Seeing the joy and excitement of the little children and adults too when we walk into a room or hall are somehow magical moments. The world shuts off for us and we are totally focussed on bringing love and joy to the children, their families and all those around us.
Over the past four weeks, we have done visits to schools for photos with us, breakfasts with Santa & Mrs. Claus, home Christmas parties, daycare centres, community and corporate events, even Science World. Each visit was so special in its own way. What's so wonderful about being Mrs. Claus is being there not only for all the children but especially for the ones who are afraid of Santa. I always tell them I am just like a grandma (well really I am a grandma). I would say most of the children who are afraid come to me and I get to rock them gently, talk to them, cuddle them and many times convince them that Santa is not that scary.. The rewards for both Santa and I are beyond awesome. Yes we are tired, but it's a real happy tired.
I was wondering if I should have titled this post "The magic of Christmas". Then I thought no, I will leave it as is. I believe the magic of being Santa and Mrs. Claus is the love, the joy, the smiles, the laughter, the tears, the hugs, the reassurance, the answering of a myriad of questions and the stories that we share. I leave you with this.... Do you believe in Santa? We do!
I would like to share with you some still photos that I did manage to find time this week to do of some Santa & Mrs. Claus things along with a few Christmassy photos too.
For the four photos below I placed a white table cloth on the floor, then covered it with some cheesecloth to give the background a little more texture. The wood is a toboggan and I've used backlighting.
This is my little elf, the soft kind. I bought him last year and gave him the cutest name. When I unpacked him this year, do you think I could remember what I called him... I still don't have a name for him so if you have any cute suggestions, please let me know in the comments below. The elf approved bag comes from a wonderful customer of ours. When we were at her party, I mentioned how I liked the bag and she insisted I take it home with me, a magical moment!
It was fun taking photos of the lights. The first photo was featured on Instagram this week.
From our hearts to yours
We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
